Poespasrivier Cottage is an original heritage cottage from 1865 in Bereaville, a tiny village which is part of the Genadendal enclave. Go back in time; local people still use horse or donkey for their daily transport, they keep chickens, breed pigs, plough the land with horses and children play in the streets. The eco-friendly, self-catering Poespasrivier cottage has been brought back to life to mirror an old lifestyle, yet with some small comforts of modern life, such as an elecrical fridge, plug points and electrical lights.
Poespasrivier Cottage has been lovingly restored to its original state. The resoration was done using local clay and straw to repair the Adobe walls, and alien tree species were used to replace the roof rafters; the windows and doors are up-cycled and 90% of the interior is from re-purposed homeware, furniture and fittings.
