Bryanston Organic & Natural Market

The Bryanston Organic & Natural Market has been a haven of calm in the city for the past 39 years, offering organic and natural foodstuffs and quality crafts. It carries the accolade of being Johannesburg’s original outdoor market and is a place of relaxed enjoyment for the whole family. The market is a registered fund raising trust and part of the Michael Mount Waldorf School. All profits from the market go towards the development of the school’s infrastructure and the international system of Waldorf education.

The focus of the market is on the good health and physical wellbeing of the soil, plants, animals, humans and the planet alike, in a community environment where relationships are shaped by collaboration, trust and transparency between our customers, producers and crafters.   Our PGS Group (Participatory Guarantee System), based on the guidelines of IFOAM Organics International, consists of 14 supplying farms, all farming in accordance with the principles of organic agriculture.   Regular appraisal visits are made to all supplying farms and customers are invited and welcomed as key participants on these visits.

The market has also launched an online shop where customers can enjoy the ease and convenience of shopping online whenever it suits them, with delivery of their shopping to their door. The products are selected in line with the same product selection criteria used in the market, assuring our customers of quality and our commitment to ethical social responsibility towards our community and the environment.
