This Fair Trade lodge is co-owned by the community of Nqileni village and loads of activities run daily; whether you want to have a first-hand experience of the village life with face-painting and maize stamping, to walks in the indigenous forests and canoe trips up the Xhora River.

Bulungula Lodge lives off-grid using solar energy for all its electricity needs and water-saving measures such as greywater recycling are in place. On the forefront for green design, the Lodge strives to be carbon neutral by rehabilitating the forest and mangroves as well as planting trees. Being community owned, Bulungula is involved in creating jobs by supporting community-run businesses, like the legendary iLanga Fire Restaurant, the best sweet and savoury pancake restaurant in Africa.
